Captured by Forum member drum118, this photo shows the sibling towers of the Ice Condos at York Centre rising in one of the city's most dynamic new districts. Developed by Lanterra & Cadillac Fairview and designed by architectsAlliance, this project is one in a series of many that are animating this once rather empty pocket of the city. Although residential construction began on the waterfront in the 1970s with the development of Harbour Square and the Westin Harbour Castle, it took decades for the land between the rail corridor and the waterfront to see any substantial change. Joining Maple Leaf Square, the Infinity Condos, Pinnacle Centre and the planned Ten York Street development, this project is one of many exciting new additions to the neighbourhood. The area is also home to a surge of new commercial construction including Telus House, the two office towers of the Southcore Complex and RBC WaterPark Place III. With more projects planned to join this already impressive list, we look forward to watching this new neighbourhood continue to evolve.
